New Canaan To Hold Clean Your Mile 2026 Program
New Canaan's Clean Your Mile program is scheduled for later this month. Here are the details.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Families, groups and merchants are invited to join the town's "Clean Your Mile" program scheduled for later this month.
According to a news release posted to the town website, the 2026 program is set to take place April 20-26.
The Clean Your Mile effort has three key components, according to the town:

1. New Canaan families picking up roadside trash in neighborhoods.
2. Community groups scouring public spaces including parks and schools.
3. Merchants cleaning up sidewalks, storage areas and parking spaces in the downtown village district.
Upon completion of neighborhood clean up, if unable to transport collected trash to the transfer station, volunteers are asked to notify the New Canaan Highway Department at 203-594-3704 of the locations of bags to be picked up by the town, the release notes.

Volunteers are asked to secure the bags and place them on grassy shoulder and not on the roadways, according to the town.
Garbage bags are available for pick up at the Public Works or Inland Wetlands departments in Town Hall.
Dumpsters will be located in the Elm Street train station commuter lot Friday-Sunday, according to the town.
The town also reminds participants to work safely when cleaning roadside.
Clean Your Mile 2026 is co-sponsored by the town of New Canaan, the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce and Planet New Canaan, according to the town.
