New Canaan To Host Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event

Police will be collecting unwanted, unused or expired prescription medication and over the counter medication in town this weekend.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Police and New Canaan CARES will host a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event in town this weekend.

In a Facebook post, police said the event will take place Saturday in front of the New Canaan Playhouse, located at 89 Elm Street, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Police said officers and New Canaan CARES representatives will be in front of the Playhouse collecting unwanted, unused or expired prescription medication and over the counter medication, as well as vape pens.

The event is part of an effort to not only prevent the abuse and misuse of these products, but also dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner, according to police.

Residents are encouraged to drive right up on Elm Street and make a drop off Saturday.
