New Canaan Improves Ranking In Boys Ice Hockey Poll

One team returned to the top 10 after a brief absence.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The top five teams in the weekly boys ice hockey poll of coaches and media members remained the same, but the bottom half of the top 10 saw some shuffling, including one team returning to the rankings.

Ridgefield was the unanimous choice of all 14 voters as the state's top team. Darien, Northwest Catholic, Hamden and Notre Dame-West Haven again comprised spots 2 through 5.

New Canaan moved up two spots, placing sixth in the most recent balloting.

Here are the top 10, with last week's ranking in parentheses, as well as all other programs garnering votes.

  2. Darien (lw: 2)
  3. Northwest Catholic (lw: 3)
  4. Hamen (lw: 4)
  5. Notre Dame-West Haven (lw: 5)
  6. New Canaan (lw: 8)
  7. Fairfield Prep (lw: 7)
  8. Greenwich (lw: 6)
  9. New Fairfield/Immaculate (lw: NR)
  10. Watertown/Pomperaug (lw: 9)

Also receiving votes: West Haven, Guilford, Xavier, Branford, Amity, Simsbury, Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe.
