New Canaan Investigating Practice of Pesticide and Landscaping Companies Drawing Water from Local Rivers

Trucks have been drawing water from local rivers for years.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Pesticide and landscaping companies have been drawing water from the Noroton River, and possibly other rivers in New Canaan, and officials are looking at whether they can end the practice.

The town's Inland Wetlands Commission is looking at the issue, in part because there could be environmental and traffic concerns in the neighborhoods where this is going on, writes Mike Dinan of NewCanaanite.com.

Trucks have been spotted regularly drawing water from a bridge on Frogtown Road. Some officials have looked at the possibility of designating a hydrant somewhere in town where trucks could draw water.
