New Canaan, CT, July 28, 2016— Five very deserving 2016 New Canaan High School graduates were awarded $750 Kiwanis Club of New Canaan’s Harold S. Kenney Scholarships during a recent luncheon at the Roger Sherman Inn. Winners ranged from varsity athletes to aspiring engineers.
The Harold S. Kenney Scholarship was named for a long-time Kiwanis member and NCHS headmaster who retired in 1973. Mr. Kenney was also a summer camp business manager and hockey coach who was named a Hay Fellow in the Humanities by Williams College in 1961.

“We received so many applications; it was really hard to narrow the field down to five recipients,” said Scholarship Committee Chair Tucker Murphy. “What they really all have in common is that they are incredibly motivated individuals who want to make an impact in the world.”
