New Canaan Lunch Lady Lawsuit Moves Forward

A U.S. District judge didn't dismiss six counts.

A lawsuit against the Board of Education, town and a food services director is one step closer to a potential trial after a judge ruled against a motion to dismiss.

Antonia Torcasio, a 12-year lunch worker claimed in a lawsuit she was subject to “adverse employment action” and that her manager Bruce Gluck treated women one way and men very differently, according to the New Canaanite.

Judge Alvin Thompson dismissed two of eight counts. The two counts were already withdrawn by the plaintiff.

An attorney from the law firm representing the Board of Education said the judge’s decision was expected and that information from the discovery process doesn’t support the plaintiff’s allegations.
