New Canaan Mounted Troop Hosts Halloween Events

Limited tickets are available for safe socially-distanced events; all money raised will support the group's therapeutic programs.

New Canaan Mounted Troop (NCMT), dedicated to building horseman-based leadership programs for children and to enriching the lives of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities, is pleased to announce a fun-filled weekend of Halloween events starting Friday evening, October 30th through Halloween evening, October 31st. All monies raised will support NCMT’s Horsemanship and Super Troopers Therapeutic Programs and assist with caring for our 27 horses and ponies. Cocktails, Music and More - “Once in a Blue Moon”

According to folklore and astrologists, the name Blue Moon refers to two full moons in a singular calendar month. Celebrating October Harvest and the eve of Blue Moon, enjoy an outdoor, socially safe-distanced evening of camaraderie with music performed by Band Central featuring country music, soft rock harvest moon vibes, cocktails via Airstream by Bakes and Sauced and boxed appetizers. This will be a rain or shine event (outdoor on the farm or in the indoor arena, if inclement weather). All guests should bring a lawn chair. Tickets: $100 each.

Community Wellness Workshop - “Mindfulness, Movement & Meditation”

Saturday, October 31st 11am – Noon

Part II of NCMT’s Wellness Series, sought-after holistic health professionals - Erinn Chang, Certified Yoga and Wellness Specialist, Founder of equestriOM and Adina Olan, Certified Pilates Instructor and Owner of BREATHE Pilates & Yoga – present “Mindfulness, Movement & Meditation” – a heart-felt guide of useful everyday tips for the whole family on how to center your mind and body. This will be both an outdoor, socially distanced active event for adults with opportunity to also participate at home via Zoom. Guests should bring a yoga mat or towel and water. In-Person Event Tickets: $50 each. Webinar Participation: $20.

Drive Through Trick or Treating

Saturday, October 31st – 6pm – 7pm

A fun experience for the entire family, come dressed in costume and children will receive treats safely delivered through passenger car windows from volunteers in Halloween attire. The Blue Moon will illuminate the night!

“Giving horses a second chance so kids can have a first.” The mission of NCMT is to build leadership, responsibility and confidence in youth through sound horsemanship and to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities. NCMT exclusively relies on donated horses and ponies to provide services. Many of the horses are stepping down from successful show careers or come through alumni, donors, and friends.
