New Canaan Moves Forward with Main St./Locust Ave. Configuration

The aim is to make the area safer for pedestrians.

New Canaan got approval from state authorities to reconfigure the Main Street and Locust Avenue intersection.

The Board of Selectman approved more than $77,000 for a construction company to add sidewalk space near the firehouse to reduce walking distance in the intersection, according to the New Canaanite.

A plan by town public works aims to re-align the intersection so it forms a T rather than a Y-shape.
