New Canaan Norway Maple Back on the Chopping Block

Tree warden Bruce Pauley has decided to repost the notice of removal of the non-native tree. A hearing could be held.

New Canaan Tree Warden Bruce Pauley has re-posted notice of removal for the Norway maple in front of town hall that is in poor health.

Pauley posted the notice of removal, but decided to take it down after a resident complained, according to the New Canaanite.

Many people voiced support for his original decision and he has decided to re-post the notice.

Residents will have 10 days from the time of posting to request a hearing on the matter. Pauley said he welcomes all opinions on the subject.

The tree would be replaced by sugar maples.
