Police ask New Canaan residents to take steps to protect their vehicles from smash-and-grab style thefts.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Police remind New Canaan residents to take steps to protect their vehicles from smash-and-grab style thefts.
In a Facebook post, police said thieves in these types of crimes will quickly and discreetly break a vehicle's window and remove valuables from inside, often targeting multiple vehicles at once.
According to police, residents are encouraged to lock their vehicles and remove valuables such as wallets, purses, sunglasses, electronics, tools and change from inside.

Residents are also urged to report any suspicious people or vehicles immediately by calling 911 or the New Canaan Police Department at 203-594-3500.
