New Canaan Planning And Zoning To Hold Public Hearings During Upcoming Meeting: Agenda

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hold public hearings on various applications during an upcoming meeting scheduled for Tuesday night.

According to a meeting agenda available on the town website, the regular hybrid meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the board room at Town Hall, located at 77 Main Street.

Among the items listed on the agenda is a public hearing on changes to the town's Conservation and Traffic Mitigation District.

According to the agenda, the zoning map amendment would alter the existing Conservation and Traffic Mitigation District, which was previously adopted July 1, 2026, and establish a second district under Section 5.11 of the New Canaan Zoning Regulations and Public Act 25-1.

The agenda also notes the districts would overlay the majority of the sewer district.

The commission is also scheduled to hold a public hearing on an application for 93 Old Stamford Road seeking a special permit to allow the relocation of a driveway to access an existing 16-foot right of way on a neighboring property, according to the agenda.

The agenda says the driveway cut would result in a driveway to be sited within 3 feet of a side yard property line in the A Residence Zone.

Another public hearing concerns an application for 180 Forest Street seeking a special permit to allow an accessory structure over 1,000 square feet in building coverage in the B Residence Zone, according to the agenda.

The commission is also scheduled to hold a public hearing on an application for 11 Farm Road seeking modification of an existing special permit to allow new permanent buildings and facilities to install a 24-foot-by-48-foot four-bay shed for sports equipment storage in lieu of a previously approved storage and bathroom structure at Dunning Stadium, according to the agenda.

An administrative review of proposed changes to a historic structure at 757 Oenoke Ridge that received a special permit in 2004 is also listed on the agenda.

The commission is also scheduled to consider an 8-24 referral for the sale of a 745-square-foot strip of land from 16 Locust Avenue to 56 Main Street to accommodate additional onsite parking, according to the agenda.

Other items listed on the agenda include deliberation and possible action on a closed public hearing item, a presentation and discussion on the potential rezoning of 60 and 64 East Avenue from the B-Residence Zone to the Business Zone and approval of minutes from three recent meetings.
