New Canaan Police, High School To Host Safe Driving Week 2026

According to police, this special week "brings attention to distracted driving from texting to driving under the influence."

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan High School and police will host its 2026 safe driving week April 20-24.

According to a news release provided by the New Canaan Police Department, this special week "brings attention to distracted driving from texting to driving under the influence."

The week will culminate with a motor vehicle crash reenactment April 24 at New Canaan High School that will begin at 11 a.m., according to police.

New Canaan High School SRO Officer Shane Gibson will facilitate this initiative with NCPD school resource officers, the Youth Services Division and many of the department's patrol officers, according to police.

"We would like to extend our appreciation to the New Canaan High School staff, New Canaan Fire Department, New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, New Canaan Highway Department and New Canaan Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support to make this a success," the department said in a release.
