New Canaan Police Make 2 DWI Arrests Within Minutes of Each Other
Both allegedly drove over a curb and down the wrong way of a street.

Two Norwalk men were arrested in New Canaan for DWI within minutes of each other after they ran over a curb and drove the wrong way on a one way street, police said.
An officer was conducting a motor vehicle stop on Main Street near Harrison Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Nov. 1 when a loud bang caught his attention, police said.
He turned around and saw a vehicle go over the curb and drive the wrong way down Millport Avenue. The vehicle was stopped and the driver appeared intoxicated, according to police. He failed a field sobriety test.

Dante Pomponi, 43, of Norwalk was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, disobeying the signal of an officer and driving the wrong way down a one way street.
Around the same time another vehicle went over the same curb and drove the wrong way, police said. Another officer who was backing up the initial responding officer stopped that vehicle.

Driver Aland Joseph, 30, of Norwalk failed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving the wrong way down a wrong way street.
