New Canaan Police Sergeant Faces Possible Termination

Sgt. John Milligan, could be terminated if a panel finds him guilty of accepting health benefits for his now ex-wife and child.

The New Canaan Police Commission continued an ongoing hearing regarding Sgt. John Milligan and whether there was an impropriety when he accepted health insurance benefits for his ex-wife and child without informing the department that he was divorced.

Three judges will determine his fate, which could include termination, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

Town Personnel director Cheryl Jones testified that he didn’t alert officials that he had been divorced and continued to accept benefits for his now ex-wife and son.
