New Canaan Public Schools Honors Administrative Assistant

The 25-year veteran of Saxe Middle School was named Administrative Assistant of the Year.

From New Canaan Public Schools: Saxe Middle School’s Lisa Jarosik has been named “Administrative Assistant of the Year for 2018” by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS). Ms. Jarosik was chosen by the CAS Administrative Assistant Conference Committee and honored at the annual statewide conference on April 27th.

“Lisa Jarosik has exemplified the highest quality performance and service over the twenty-five years she has served our middle school, and my office, as principal’s secretary,” said Saxe Middle School principal Greg Macedo.

The annual Administrative Assistant of the Year Award is a state-wide honor designed to recognize the valuable work performed by secretaries and administrative assistants in our schools. It celebrates an individual’s high quality performance, excellent leadership skill, and contribution to the community. Those honored with the award have displayed the ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks and model professional growth. The winner must also meet the qualifications of creating a positive and professional environment for others that fits the needs of the school and the public.

Lisa Jarosik has done all of this in her 25 years as the principal’s secretary in Saxe Middle School, and her performance makes her stand out among the school’s staff, faculty and administration. She has exceeded expectations for her roles as a manager of the PowerSchool portal and the student information system for administrators, staff, students, and parents.

Additionally, Ms. Jarosik has shared her expertise in technology with the faculty and staff as school website content manager for the middle school.

“Lisa’s lifetime of public service through our school system is extraordinary in these days and times,” continue Mr. Macedo. “She has always been in the forefront of upholding performance standards as well as adopting innovation. She is known in the district as the ‘go-to’ professional for others managing their school webpages. Within our school, Lisa is constantly asked to conduct ‘informal’ professional development sessions with faculty who are learning to adapt to increasing demands on the web.”

Throughout her workday at Saxe’s central office, Ms. Jarosik helps to establish and maintain a positive school climate that reflects high student and staff morale, as she models values, beliefs, and attitudes that inspire others to higher levels of performance. Families of the 1,300 students at Saxe consistently give Ms. Jarosik an incalculable number of compliments about her friendly and informative responses to questions and concerns. She’s also adapted and mastered new skills as a Minutes Secretary for the Board of Education.

“Lisa has provided high quality performance in a variety of school office settings in the 25 years she has worked at Saxe with Principal Greg Macedo,” said Dr. Bryan Luizzi, NCPS Superintendent of Schools. “Lisa has always demonstrated excellent leadership skills, an ongoing commitment to staff and students and meaningful contributions to the overall school experience. She is very deserving of being named Administrative Assistant of the Year, and we congratulate her on receiving this honor.”
