New Canaan Reportedly Considers Joining State Opioid Class Action Lawsuit

Darien is also considering joining the class action lawsuit against pharma companies by Waterbury and other Connecticut municipalities.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan officials are contemplating whether to join a class action lawsuit against opioid manufacturers to hold the companies accountable for addiction crisis sweeping the state and the nation, reports the Darien News.

Waterbury and the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities are spearheading the effort, which would call out pharmaceutical companies for their marketing tactics and withholding of addiction information, among other claims. The lawsuit has not yet been filed, but a law firm has been retained.

In addition to New Canaan, Darien is also reportedly considering joining the class action lawsuit. The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities is scheduled to meet later this month to hear a presentation from the New York law firm Simmons, Hanly and Conroy about the case.
