New Canaan Resident To Pay Pet Adoption Fees In Stamford

The owner of PRAI Beauty is paying the fees at Stamford Animal Control and Care Center.

From PRAI Beauty: Cathy Kangas of New Canaan, the CEO and Founder of PRAI Beauty, announced that Stamford Animal Control and Care Center, located at 201 Magee Ave. in Stamford, will participate in a “Free the Shelters” event for two weeks beginning New Year’s Day, Jan. 1,, through Sunday, Jan 14, 2018. All adoption fees will be waived and paid for by PRAI Beauty as part of this national campaign to help homeless animals.

In addition, individuals who adopt an older dog that has been in the shelter for more than a year will receive two free training sessions to help the animal acclimate to his new home.

Stamford Animal Control and Care Center is open for adoptions every day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The shelter can be reached at (203) 977-4437

“Free the Shelters” was launched by PRAI Beauty in May and to date has helped more than 1,500 animals get adopted at 21 private and municipal shelters across the country. Cathy Kangas is a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of the United States.

“I recently adopted a dog from Stamford Animal Control and Care Center and saw the other wonderful dogs and cats there looking for a home. So I decided to pay all the adoption fees for these animals with the hope that all of them will be adopted, “Cathy Kangas said.” We pride ourselves in being first at PRAI Beauty, and this campaign is no exception. We are starting a movement. Shelter animals can be pedigree or mutts, young or old … they’re all perfect and need to find good homes. Shelters should be short-term foster homes rather than a long term jail sentence for companion animals.”

Officer Tilford Cobb of Stamford Animal Control and Care Center said: “This is the perfect time of year to adopt a pet from our shelter. “Free the Shelters” helps with overcrowding and enables people who were thinking of adopting a pet start the New Year off with a new addition to their family. We are thankful to Cathy Kangas and PRAI Beauty for this important contribution to Stamford Animal Control.”
