New Canaan Resident Peyton Grymes Jr. Passes Away at Age 79

Peyton Grymes Jr., 79, a 36-year resident of New Canaan, CT died on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Greenwich Hospital after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Grymes was born on March 7, 1936 in Lexington, KY and was the son of the late Peyton and Helen Brower Grymes.

Peyton grew up in Richmond, VA where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Richmond Professional Institute. After serving in U.S. Army, he joined Albemarle Paper Company in Richmond, VA and spent his career in the paper industry retiring in 2000 from Champion International Corporation. He was a member of Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Virginia, The Senior Men’s Club of New Canaan and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, New Canaan.

Peyton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Braxton Rains Grymes, his daughter Olivia Staige Lemoine Grymes both of New Canaan and his son Peyton Grymes, III of Bluffton, SC. He was pre-deceased by his brother Harry Brower Grymes.

A Memorial Service and burial will be held at a later date in Richmond, VA.
