New Canaan Residents Invited To 'Adopt Local Child Or Family' Through Back To School Program

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Human Services is looking for caring community members to "adopt" a local child or family through the town's back to school program.

According to the town's Facebook page, donations will help ensure students have the supplies they need to begin the school year with confidence.

Through the program, each child will receive a new backpack and a $50 gift card to purchase school supplies from their teacher's supply list, according to the town.

Those interested in participating are invited to sign up here.

When signing up, participants are asked to enter the number of children or families they would like to adopt in the comment section, according to the town.

Donations can be dropped off Aug. 10-17 at New Canaan Human Services, located at 77 Main Street in New Canaan.

"Thank you for helping local students start the school year prepared and ready to succeed," the town's Facebook post reads.
