New Canaan’s Alex Russey was honored as a Scholar-Leader-Athlete by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Delaware Valley Chapter. A student at The Hun School of Princeton, Russey was recognized at the George Wah Scholar-Leader-Athlete Awards Dinner on March 8 at the Princeton Marriott at Forrestal, where scholarships were awarded to 20 scholar-leader-athletes from regional New Jersey schools. The NFF recognition honors top football players who also excel in academics and community leadership.
Russey was a team captain and multi-position player at Hun, where he averaged 10.8 yards per carry and 22 yards per reception. Prior to attending Hun, he was a standout three-year varsity football player at New Canaan High School in Connecticut and a member of two state championship teams.
