All-State Honors for Two Boys Soccer Players

New Canaan goalkeeper Scott Levene and forward Jon-Luke Ferrandino were among seven FCIAC players who earned all-state honors by the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association.
The two New Canaan players were joined on the Class L team by Wilton's Dillon Weed.

Norwalk's Nick Zuniga, Westhill's Matteo Gallego, Staples' goalie James Hickok and Greenwich’s Pieter Zenner were tabbed for the Class LL team.
New Canaan was dethroned as state champions by arch-rival Darien in the second round of the Class L state tournament. The Rams, who reached the FCIAC semifinals, finished the season with a 10-5-5 record.

The New Canaan girls basketball team visits Harding on Wednesday (5:30 p.m.) in its season opener.
The Rams (17-6) reached the FCIAC semifinals last season and figure to once again be in the mix for a playoff spot with three of their top four scoring returning, including senior point guard Sarah Mannelly, a long-range specialist who averaged a team-high 16.9 points per game last season.
Also back are junior guard Courtney Rogers (10.0 ppg) and senior guard Ellie Wright (6.0 ppg).
New Canaan did lose Christina Loop, its second-leading scorer who averaged 8.7 points per game last season.
