New Canaan Sober House Protected by Fed, State Laws: Report

The home is used by recovering alcoholics and drug addicts.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A residence on West Road that is used for recovering alcohol and drug abusers has multiple state and federal laws that protect its existence.

Town Attorney Ira Bloom wrote in a memo that two federal laws and a state law take priority over local law, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

Some neighbors are upset with the home's existence. Currently one man lives there, but up to eight men are allowed to live there at any time.
