New Canaan CF: For the third year in a row, New Canaan and Darien will face-off to see which town can capture the title of “Most Generous Town” by raising the most funds for either the New Canaan Community Foundation or The Community Fund of Darien. Last year, New Canaan won the competition by a slim margin, and both organizations collectively raised over $150,000 to support local nonprofits. In the first year, Darien won the competition. As the third year, the two organizations consider it a friendly “tie breaker” opportunity.

This year, the competition window extends from November 21st until midnight on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th . Donors can contribute to The New Canaan Community Foundation by texting 06840 to 44321 during this time period or by visiting www.newcanaancf.org The winning town will own the “Turkey Trophy” and bragging rights for the year, and their residents will take pride in the knowledge that their community makes charitable giving a priority. To kick-off the week long giving competition, New Canaan Community Foundation will host a guest
bartending event at Gates Restaurant on Thursday, November 21st at 6:30pm. The event immediately follows the annual Volunteer Recognition Awards at Town Hall, and is free and open to the public.

The “Most Generous Town” competition hopes to become synonymous with the legendary Turkey Bowl in the coming years. This much-needed financial support addresses critical local needs such as human services, behavioral health, youth and education programs, senior services and more. No matter who takes the title this year, it’s a win for both towns and the local partner nonprofits that will benefit from the dollars raised.
