New Canaan Student Wins National Merit Scholarship

NEW CANAAN, CT — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced its third round of 2022 scholarship winners, and a New Canaan student has made the list.

According to a news release, New Canaan High School student Charles Corcoran received a National Merit Colby College Scholarship. His probable career field is computer science.

Students included in this round were chosen by officials at the college or university they plan to attend, and were picked from a list of 2022 National Merit Scholarship finalists who have enrolled in their institution.

Though officials didn't specify the amount of money each student will receive, the awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the school offering the scholarship.

The third and final round of Merit Scholarship winners — who will also be recipients of college-sponsored awards — will be announced on July 11.
