New Canaan Welcomes New Firefighter

Town officials recently announced the addition of Harry Russell​ as New Canaan's newest firefighter.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Town officials announced last week the addition of Harry Russell as New Canaan's newest firefighter.

Russell was introduced Friday in an announcement on the town's Facebook page.

As a third-generation scaffolder for his family's scaffolding firm in England, Russell brings a wealth of experience and commitment to safety to the position, having earned numerous health and safety certificates and construction qualifications over the years, town officials said.

After immigrating to the United States from England, Russell joined the New Canaan Fire Company No. 1 as a volunteer, where he devoted his time to obtaining his Firefighter 1, Q and EMT certifications, according to fire officials.

Russell then went on to complete his training at the Connecticut Fire Academy, solidifying his skills and knowledge to serve the town of New Canaan, fire officials said.

"His journey is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to making a positive impact," town officials said on Facebook.
