New Canaan Woman Accused Of Stealing Packages: Police

The thefts occurred at an apartment building on Millport Avenue in New Canaan, according to police.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 60-year-old New Canaan woman was arrested on a warrant this week charging her with sixth-degree larceny after police said she had been stealing packages from a resident of an apartment building on Millport Avenue in New Canaan, according to police.

Sheryl Moroch, who also lives in the building, turned herself in at New Canaan police headquarters on Tuesday morning.

New Canaan police said that the thefts began about a year ago, when the department received the first complaint of a package that was stolen from the building's common entrance area.

"An investigation was conducted and using video surveillance from the common entrance area Moroch is identified as the suspect stealing the packages that belonged to the victim," New Canaan police said in a statement.

She is accused of stealing four packages, which carried a total value of about $125.

Moroch was released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 22.
