New Canaan Woman Charged With Identity Theft: Greenwich PD

A New Canaan woman accused of using a Greenwich resident's credit card has been charged with identity theft, according to police.

GREENWICH, CT — A New Canaan woman was arrested on identity theft and other charges Tuesday after using a Greenwich resident's credit card, police said. She is also accused of providing officers with false information regarding the incident, police said.

According to an arrest report, Jasminka Baney, 39, was developed as a suspect after the resident's daughter noticed various purchases made with her mother's credit card seemed suspicious. Officers later determined the accused used the resident's card to make the purchases, police said.

The investigation began in May, and police served the warrant on Aug. 13. The accused turned herself into police Tuesday.

She is charged with second-degree identity theft, second-degree larceny, interfering with officers and making a false statement.
