New Canaan Woman Issued Summons For Allowing Underage Drinking

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 50-year-old New Canaan woman was issued a misdemeanor summons over the weekend after police found extensive evidence of underage drinking going on at the woman's Oenoke Lane home, according to authorities.
New Canaan Police were called to the home of Stacey Sheppard Essex at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night on a report of loud noise coming from the property.
"Upon arriving, officers observed approximately 30-40 teenagers running from the residence and dispersing in various directions," police wrote in a statement. "Officers observed empty beer cans on the outside of the house."

Officers met with Essex at the property's guesthouse and found "a ping pong table with plastic cups on top of the table" and numerous bottles of alcohol in the guesthouse.
Essex was issued the misdemeanor summons at the scene and was released. She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 21.
