New Canaan's Christmas Eve Community Caroling Starts at 6:30 PM

Come out and sing along with other carolers Wednesday night for New Canaan’s Christmas Eve caroling event on God’s Acre, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Here’s how New Canaan police will try to make the event safer (and the tips here are another opportunity to help your kids learn pedestrian safety):

The weather for caroling this year is expected to be rain with limited visibility.

To ensure that this year’s event is as safe as possible the Town will implement increased traffic control measures in conjunction with Police, Highway Department, CERT and Fire Department personnel.

Increased lighting, messaging, and other enhanced measures will better manage both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

If you plan to attend this event, please:

1. Park in the Upper Park Street lots.

2. Use the temporary roped off and visible pedestrian walkway from the Park Street lots exit to Saint John’s Place.

3. Use sidewalks whenever possible.

4. Look left, right, and left again before crossing the street.

5. Cross the street only where directed by Police or CERT personnel.

6. Use crosswalks and obey traffic control signals.

7. Wear bright clothing and/or carry flashlights.

8. Don’t text or talk on your cell phone when walking or driving.

9. Make eye contact with drivers as they approach. Never assume a driver sees you.
