New Concierge Medicine Practice Opens in New Canaan, Offering Personalized Care

Dr. Larry Leibowitz offers a highly individualized patient experience to the New Canaan community at Matrix Personalized Medicine

A family medicine physician for almost 18 years, Larry Leibowitz, MD is opening the doors to his concierge medical practice, Matrix Personalized Medicine, providing comprehensive primary care for his patients. Proactive wellness and personalized care will be emphasized, with more time to address individual concerns and complex conditions.

“My patients trust me with their health and well-being; this is a responsibility and privilege I take very seriously,” says Dr. Leibowitz. “Developing a relationship with my patients and treating each with a fresh and personalized approach is what I value most about being a doctor. This requires time, attentiveness and a level of care no longer supported by our healthcare system.”

Concierge medicine provides the solution, he says, that allows him to continue providing the quality of care he has always offered patients. Matrix Personalized Medicine reflects the hallmarks of this highly personalized care model, beginning with a smaller patient panel that enables Dr. Leibowitz to offer longer, unhurried appointments, an extended, comprehensive annual wellness exam including advanced cardiovascular and metabolic assessments, and direct availability via his personal cell phone and email.

“I will continue to serve as my patients’ advocate, whenever and wherever needed…at the office or hospital, at their home when necessary, or remotely from my cell phone,” says Dr. Leibowitz.

Those attributes are vital to New Canaan resident Steven Novick, a patient of Dr. Leibowitz since 2011 and one of the first to sign up at Matrix Personalized Medicine. “I have a very busy schedule, with a demanding job and children located all over the country. Being able to contact Dr. Leibowitz at any time, year round, is essential to me and my family. He’s a remarkable physician, and earned our complete trust over the years by serving as advisor and counselor as well. For instance, when my daughter injured herself playing sports, his expertise and guidance proved invaluable. From defining the right approach to finding the best surgeon to overseeing the entire process, Dr. Leibowitz was there for us.”

That’s why, Novick says: “He’s more than a doctor to us. We consider him a true friend of the family.”

The change to concierge medicine is a natural evolution for Dr. Leibowitz, who has always felt that adequate time is necessary in order to deliver truly comprehensive, personalized care. In the fall of 2015, Dr. Leibowitz completed an integrative medicine fellowship under Dr. Andrew Weil, the renowned founder of the movement.

"My exposure to integrative medicine has helped me to consider all the factors that influence health and healing for each patient – mind, body, spirit, lifestyle and community,” he explains. “The cutting-edge, individualized care and attention made possible in a concierge medical practice aligns perfectly with this holistic, patient-centered approach to wellness."

Physicians across the country are establishing concierge practices in order to return the physician-patient relationship to the forefront of medical care, according to Specialdocs Consultants, LLC, a national health care consulting firm helping Dr. Leibowitz convert his practice to the concierge medicine model. “More time to spend with patients is the number one reason our doctors transition to concierge medicine,” says Terrence Bauer, CEO, Specialdocs.

Matrix Personalized Medicine LLC is located at 45 Grove Street in New Canaan, Connecticut. Dr. Leibowitz will continue to care for patients in surrounding communities as well, including Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Bethel, Danbury, Darien, Stamford and Wilton, CT, along with South Salem, Scotts Corners and Pound Ridge, NY.

“Treating the whole patient and making a difference in the way they live their lives is the reason I became a physician,” says Dr. Leibowitz. “I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to practice medicine the way it was meant to be practiced…going well beyond just treating illness to helping restore vitality and well-being, even joy.”
