New Exec Director Named At New Canaan Chamber Of Commerce

The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Budd, as the new Executive Director effective September 8, 2020. An eight-year veteran of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, she previously held the position of Marketing Manager. She will be filling the role held by Tucker Murphy, who will be transitioning to the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of New Canaan.

Laura, an 18-year resident of New Canaan, came to the Chamber with extensive media and marketing experience. She worked for a variety of consumer advertising and media agencies such as, Grey Advertising as well as in sales and marketing for a business-to-business company. Laura represents New Canaan on the Western Connecticut Tourism Bureau and also serves on the Town of New Canaan Parking Commission where she provides the downtown business district perspective in that role.

“Working at the Chamber for the past eight years as the Marketing Manager has given me a tremendous respect for the passion New Canaan’s business owners and managers put in every day. My goal is to match that dedication by advocating on their behalf with the community at large.” Laura said, “As the past five months have shown us, our business community is vital to the overall health of New Canaan. My focus moving forward is to help our members ride out the storm that 2020 has delivered and thrive in 2021 and beyond” says Budd.

The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, a not for profit organization, is supported by a 15 plus Board of Directors. This dynamic and strong volunteer board is elected and represents a cross section of professionals from a variety of business sectors, each contributing their expertise to the development of community programs for New Canaan. As the new Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Laura will be managing the day-to-day business of delivering programs that benefit the local business community and connect the community with commerce.

The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce currently has more than 400 members. Members enjoy the benefits of networking and town programs that support the needs of the businesses as well as local non-profits and residents. Town-wide events led by the Chamber include: Zoom Downtown events, Village Fair and Sidewalk Sales (this year is So Long to Summer Sale), Taste of the Town, the Holiday Stroll and Holiday Lights, and the Halloween Parade.
