Obituary: Joseph Herlihy Jr. of New Canaan

Joseph M. Herlihy, Jr., a longtime resident of the Waveny Care Center, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 21.

Born in Mt. Kisco, Joe was in New Canaan before his first birthday, and lived there the rest of his years. While living at Waveny, he would reminisce fondly of his days growing up in the family home just down the road on South Avenue.

Joe was a sweet soul, forever upbeat and friendly to all. He was beloved by decades of caregivers, volunteers and visitors at Waveny, and the warmest thanks are due to each one of them for every one of the countless moments of kindness they shared with him over the years.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main St., New Canaan, and Joe will join his beloved parents in their eternal rest as a family once more.
