NEW CANAAN, CT — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning at the intersection of South Avenue and Cherry Street, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said officers were called to the intersection just before 11 a.m. after receiving a report of an accident involving a pedestrian.

Police and EMS officers provided medical care to the pedestrian, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, DeFelice said.

The suspected vehicle left the area before police arrived, DeFelice said. The investigation is ongoing.
