Police: Man in Burgundy Pants Suspected of Stealing from Fashionable Clothing Store

Sporting burgundy pants, a toggle coat and a newsboy cap, a thief makes off with a $328 watch, a Jack Spade store manager told police.

New Canaan police are on the lookout for a young man who looked at a $328 watch at the Jack Spade store just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 7 — a watch that was found to be missing just after the man and a companion walked out of the store.

The store manager called police at 5:14 p.m. to report the incident, giving this account:

Two men who were together walked into the store. One, a tall, white, balding man in his late 20s or early 30s, asked to see some watches.

Unsurprisingly, the manager of the clothing store took note of what the man was wearing: a navy blue toggle coat, a newsboy hat and burgundy colored pants. The other man was described as short, slender, white, with a full beard, glasses and blue eyes.

After the men left, the store manager noticed that a $328 jack Spade brand watch was missing from the watch display that the man in burgundy pants was examining.
