Police: Mom Locks Her Children out of House, Threatens to Get Shotgun

A Christmas Day argument got physical between the mother and her adult daughter, police said.

On Christmas Day, according to police, a Turtle Back Road South woman got into an argument with three of her children, and it got physical with one of them; then she kicked all three out of her house.

This account (accusations not proven in court), is based on reports of New Canaan police statements:

An alarm company contacted police to tell them that a family dispute appeared to be taking place at the home, where an 11-year-old son uninvolved in the argument also lives, according to the New Canaan News.

Police went to the house at 4:55 p.m. and found three of the women’s children outside: Two sons, ages 17 and 20, and a daughter, 25 years old, all in a car at the end of the driveway, the New Canaanite reported.

The alarm had been triggered when the three had tried to get back in the house through a door, according to the New Canaanite. It was unclear how the argument had become physical, but the mother had threatened to go get her shotgun, according to both news accounts.

Each news account also reported (also based on police statements):

The mother, 53 years old, was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree reckless endangerment. No one else was charged. She was released on $260 bond and scheduled to appear the following day in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Later on Christmas Day, the woman emailed her daughter and husband about the incident. The emails violated one of the mother’s conditions of release and she was charged in a misdemeanor summons with second-degree violation of the conditions of release.
