Police Warn New Canaan Residents Of Town P&Z E-Mail Scam: PD
Police said some New Canaan residents have recently received scam e-mails from someone posing as a town P&Z employee.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Police are warning New Canaan residents to be on the lookout for recent scam emails that appear to be from the town's Planning and Zoning Department.
In a Facebook post Friday, police said some residents have reported receiving an e-mailed attachment from someone posing as an employee of the department using the following fraudulent e-mail address: planning.newcanaanct.gov@usa.com.
According to police, the email will ask residents to respond in regards to money owed for variance applications for land and approval fees that are owed.

"This is a SCAM as they are attempting to get residents to send a wire transfer to an account not associated with the town of New Canaan," police wrote on Facebook.
Residents are asked to report any similar suspicious activity to the New Canaan Police Department at 203-594-3500 and, when in doubt, contact Town Hall to inquire further about e-mails coming from any town departments.
