Popular Scavenger Hunt Returns To Annual New Canaan Dog Days Event

The popular event will feature a dog scavenger hunt, as well as a bone bar, a waterpark for dogs, food trucks and more.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The annual New Canaan Dog Days event, presented by Pet Pantry Warehouse, is scheduled to return to the New Canaan Nature Center on May 31 and will once again feature a popular dog scavenger hunt.

Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events will host the "Bonkers for Balls" Dog Scavenger Hunt, which will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the event.

According to a news release provided by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events, Founder Rachel Lampen took inspiration for the scavenger hunt from her 1.5-year-old dachshund Dudley, who is obsessed with any kind of ball.

Participants can unleash their inner hunting instincts and race around the grounds searching for a hidden numbered tennis ball (one per entry), according to the release.

Over 70 tennis balls will be planted, and participants can pop over by the Pergola, sniff around the Sugar Shack or seek them out under the stalls on the Green, according to the release.

"To help you, Rock Paper Scissors hand fans will indicate where the balls have been hidden," the release reads. "Once found, return to the booth and claim your guaranteed prize. These include plush, fetch and chew toys with top prizes from Passage East Boarding and a Bowser dog bed valued at more than $200."

According to the release, 100 percent of proceeds benefit Adopt-A-Dog, helping local rescue dogs find loving homes.

"Thanks to the incredible community support, last year's event raised $450 for this wonderful cause," the release reads.

Dog Days runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the nature center, located at 144 Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan.

Admission is free.

Other activities scheduled to take place during the event include Luring 101, Waterpark for Dogs, Bone Bar, Ice Cream Pawlour, Sniffari, a face painter, food trucks and a caricature artist, according to additional press materials.
