Prospective New Canaan Homebuyers: Check with Inland Wetlands
Many homeowners are finding their properties sit on wetlands and are in violation because they didn't see whether plans require permits.

The only way to know whether wetlands are present or absent is to have a lot field-tested by a certified soil scientist, according to the New Canaanite.
Studies and permits are required prior to earth-moving activities including filling or removing material, erecting structures in sensitive areas and diverting water.
