Raise For New Canaan's Treasurer Position? Not So Fast: Report

NEW CANAAN, CT — The town's part-time treasurer position will not receive a substantial pay increase from $1,392 to $20,000 after the Board of Finance decided against the raise Tuesday night, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.

The New Canaan Town Council requested the raise for the position, which is elected, in part because other Fairfield County communities pay for their treasurers.

But finance board members, who turned down the request earlier this year, are seemingly still not convinced that the post's duties match the large salary increase, among other concerns.
