Report: Brian Williams' Suspension Is Over

The New Canaan resident and former NBC News anchor reportedly will return to the airwaves in September.

The six-month suspension for former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams is officially over.

CNNMoney reported that NBC confirmed on Tuesday that the New Canaan resident will assume his new role as a breaking news anchor for MSNBC in mid-September, although a date has not been set.

Williams was suspended without after it was learned he was not truthful in news reports and embellished recollections of some assignments. NBC announced in June that Williams would return to the company as a breaking news anchor on MSNBC.

Williams has been replaced as the permanent NBC Nightly News anchor by Lester Holt. Williams had signed a five-year contract with NBC in late 2014 and was being paid more than $10 million annually, according to the LA Times.
