Report: NBC Might Keep Brian Williams, But Not as Anchor

Williams, a New Canaan resident, may have a role at NBC, but not the one viewers have seen.

CNN Money reports that Williams and NBC have been negotiating for weeks. One possible outcome could be a new role for Williams. This option has been gaining favor recently among those in negotiations.

He may also receive a financial settlement and completely leave.

Williams contract that he signed last year was reportedly worth around $10 million a year for five years.

Williams stepped down from his role as anchor of NBC Nightly News after allegations that he embellished experiences in the Iraq War in 2003. He claimed he was on a helicopter that was hit by a rocket, but another helicopter was hit.
