Reports: He Was Busy, So He Waited Weeks to Report $50K Home Burglary

Reports: Holiday busyness caused a day's delay in a Ferris Hill Road resident's report of the theft of $50,000 in jewelry and other items.

A 53-year-old Ferris Hill Road man said that items he valued at about $50,000 were stolen from his home on Dec. 8 or 9, but he waited to tell police until Dec. 26 because he was so busy with holiday arrangements, according to news reports which cited New Canaan police statements.

Both the New Canaanite and the New Canaan News reported:

Most of the value of items reported stolen was in jewelry, but the theft also included a .300 Winchester rifle (valued at $500), a rifle scope ($1,800), various items of crystal ware ($5,000), various items of silverware ($5,000), MacBook Pro computers ($2,000 a piece), an antique clock ($500) and a set of Sony speakers ($400).
