UPDATE: Teenager Among Seriously Injured from Thursday Crash on Silvermine Rd.

Victims were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash that involved one vehicle rolling into woods off of Silvermine Ave., reports say.

Update 4:21 p.m.:

New Canaan Police Capt. Vincent DeMaio said driver may be charged in connection with a multi-vehicle crash on Silvermine Avenue Thursday that sent several people to the hospital, the New Canaan News reports.

The newspaper also reported: New Canaan Fire Chief Jack Hennessey said four cars were involved in a high-speed accident that left three of them off the road, and that took 35 minutes to extract one of the drivers from a car. There don’t appear to have been any passengers in the vehicles, which appear to have been at least one SUV and perhaps two station wagons, although damage to the cars was so severe that Hennessey wasn’t sure.

A teenager is among the people seriously injured, the New Canaan Advertiser reported. Police Chief Leon Krowlikowski said no new information would be released by the department until after the weekend, the newspaper reported.

On Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 5:34 PM, New Canaan Officers responded to Silvermine Road near Clapboard Hill Road on the report of a multi-car motor vehicle accident.

Officers at the scene found a complex four car accident with occupants trapped in their vehicles. One occupant was ejected from a vehicle.

Several vehicle occupants were injured and some sustained serious, potentially life threatening injuries. All injured parties were transported to Norwalk Hospital.

New Canaan Fire Department, New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Norwalk Fire Department, Norwalk Hospital Ambulance and Paramedics all were at the scene extricating and treating the injured.

This accident is being investigated by a multi-jurisdictional serious accident team with New Canaan Officers leading the investigation.

Details about this tragic accident are evolving.

No additional details will be released at this stage of the investigation.

Several people seriously injured after at least two vehicles crashed on Silvermine Avenue near Clapboard Hill Road at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday, according to early reports.

Early reports said there were possible fatalities, but this morning New Canaan Police Capt. Vincent DeMaio said he knew of “several” victims seriously injured. He hadn’t heard of any fatalities.

Police Chief Leon Krolikowski told the New Canaan News Thursday that there were multiple serious injuries, with some trapped in “complex” wreckage of vehicles tangled together.

One person appeared to have been ejected from one of the vehicles, the newspaper reported, citing Krolikowski.

The New Canaan Advertiser reported that four people were seriously injured, citing a source who wished to remain anonymous, and said one vehicle appeared to have rolled into woods. The New Canaan News cited “reports” of a vehicle rolling into the woods.
