Update: Roaming Man Found in Stamford Emergency Room

A possibly suicidal man who was believed to be on drugs was found in the Ponus Ridge area after a search Sunday night into Monday.

The New Canaan Office of Emergency Management sent out an alert Sunday night that police were seeking a 24-year-old white man in the Ponus Ridge area. A resident had reported a strange man walking in her back yard, police said. By the time they arrived he had left and entered a wooded area.

Residents were advised to keep pets and children inside. The alert went out on Facebook and to nearby residents who signed-up with the town’s emergency notification system.

Police from New Canaan, Stamford, Pound Ridge and the state were involved in the search.

The man, who is from Stamford, was found around 2:15 a.m. after he was discovered in a Stamford emergency room, police said.

He was issued an infraction for simple trespass.
