She graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama and Education. Ruth was a stewardess for Pan-Am Airlines for many years, and was onboard the airline’s first flight to Antarctica. In her youth, Ruth was a beautiful woman and was pursued by various modelling agencies. Despite her external beauty, however, she never demonstrated a sense of vanity, but instead always maintained a calm, humble and elegant manner. Perhaps, as a reflection of her own persona, Ruth took great pleasure in the theatrical arts and beautiful pieces of classical music.
Ruth leaves behind a brother, David Kelly and his wife Dolores of Haxtun, Colorado, a sister, Aileen Mumford and her husband Franklin of Wilmington, Delaware and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Dora of Denver, Colorado.
