'Scandal' Star and New Canaan Resident Tony Goldwyn Speaks Out Against Donald Trump Candidacy

In a video on his Facebook page, Goldwyn discusses how the prospect of a President Donald Trump "terrifies" him.

NEW CANAAN, CT — In a video on his Facebook page for the Democratic Party's IWillVote.com campaign, actor and New Canaan resident Tony Goldwyn says the prospect of Donald Trump becoming president "terrifies" him.

Goldwyn, who plays the often compromised President of the United States on the hit ABC show "Scandal," says that he believes Trump would make his policy decisions based on fear, which he says could negatively impact America's standing in the world. See the video below.

"And then the other thing is, you know, everything I've seen from Donald Trump is in reference to himself," Goldwyn says. "You know, his whole life seems to be devoted to self-betterment. And all of his speeches tend to be framed about him and how people either adore him or what people think of him or what people say about him, or it's very self-involved, it's self-focused and I think that that kind of narcissism is a really dangerous thing in a leader."

He goes on to speak glowingly of Hillary Clinton, who has his support based on her years of experience in working on behalf of others. During the summer, Goldwyn attended a Clinton campaign event in Del Ray, Virginia.

"When I look at her, I see someone who's very outward focused, and that inspires confidence in me," Goldwyn adds. "And when I think of Donald Trump in the White House, I see the exact opposite, and honestly, it's terrifying to me."
