Silvermine Arts Center Awarded Significant Grant By CT Humanities

NEW CANAAN, CT — Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan was recently awarded a $116,500 cultural fund operating support grant from CT Humanities.

According to a news release provided by the arts center, the operating support grant is designed to assist non-profit organizations focused on culture, the humanities or the arts as they recover from the effects of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, and to strengthen the organizations as they adapt and move forward.

"We are overjoyed to have this level of support from CT Humanities," Silvermine's CEO Barbara Linarducci said in a news release. "Like other arts organizations, we are still striving to keep our many studio art programs and exhibiting galleries fully open and accessible to our community. The funds for general operating support could not be more welcome as we emerge from the pandemic and celebrate our centennial at the same time. We are extremely grateful."

The CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grants are part of $30 million in support allocated over the next two years by the CT General Assembly and approved by Governor Ned Lamont. These grants are intended to assist organizations recovering from the pandemic and aid them in growing their ability to serve their communities and the public, according to the arts center.

They also aim to connect K-12 teachers and students to strong humanities and arts content and improve information technology and digital infrastructure. Grant funding ranged from $5,000 to $500,000 and all organizations offering cultural, humanities, and arts-based projects and activities for the public were eligible, according to the arts center.
