Join
us at the New Canaan Historical Society for a special program on May 30th from
7:30 PM to 9 PM to discover "Silvermine, the Unknown Connecticut Artist
Colony." Ed Vollmer, Susan Gunn Bromley
and Sam Schmitt will present a visual presentation and discussion on their
research and discoveries on the Silvermine Art Colony and its place in the
development of American Art. The
emphasis will be on the Silvermine Group of Artists whose work is featured in
the current exhibit "The Knockers on Paper" and will also include
examples of Silvermine artists’ oil paintings and
sculpture. The panel will make their arguments for why the Silvermine Art
Colony, the associated artists and their work deserve a place in Connecticut's
art history alongside the better known Cos Cob and Old Lyme Art Colonies.
