On December 5th and 6th, the Silvermine Arts Center will host its annual Holiday Sale and Artisan Trunk Show, one of the most anticipated events of the year. On Saturday, December 5th from 10-5 you can shop at BOTH the Silvermine School of Art Holiday Sale and the Artisan Trunk Show. The Holiday Sale continues on Sunday from 1-5. All sales are tax-free both days. In the spirit of the season a portion of the proceeds will support the children’s scholarship fund.
The Saturday trunk show includes jewelry with semi-precious gemstones by Susan Roberts; the elegant, vibrantly-colored glass plates of Marty Kremer; flowing, textured clothing by Zee Mizrahi; Robert Dancik’s sculptural faux bone jewelry; and Nigel Howe’s beautiful wood bowls that integrate the grain of the wood with the shape of the finished piece. There will also be a special opportunity to purchase jewelry and enameled boxes by Hilda Kraus (1915-2014). Kraus was a lifetime member of the Silvermine Guild and one of the leading figures in the postwar metals and enameling fields. With her handsome metalwork boxes and her strongly geometric bracelets and necklaces, she brought rich color and a modernist’s touch to a traditional art.
The two-day Silvermine School of Art holiday sale features work by the talented students and teachers at Silvermine. The works available span the full range of Silvermine’s art programs: ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, paper, and textiles to name a few. There are bargains to be had and one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts at every turn. Don’t miss out. Come browse at one of the most enjoyable holiday sales in Connecticut.
