Social Worker Accused Of Providing Pot To New Canaan Juvenile: PD
Local authorities launched an investigation into the case in March.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 32-year-old social worker was arrested on a warrant this week and accused of providing marijuana and vape pods to a New Canaan juvenile who was under her care, according to New Canaan police.
Kelly Howard, an Ansonia resident, surrendered to police Thursday and was charged with failure of a mandated reporter to report abuse, illegal sale of tobacco to a minor and sale of a controlled substance.
According to police, Howard had been making home visits to treat the New Canaan juvenile, and in March the police department received a tip about the allegations and launched an investigation.

Additionally, New Canaan police discovered that Howard "failed to report potential incidents of neglect and or abuse regarding the juvenile to the appropriate agencies."
Because the case directly involves a juvenile, New Canaan police did not offer additional details.

Howard was released after posting bond on bail of $100,000 and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 21.
